ABOUT THE PROJECT
Glassellland started in December of 2022 when Joseph, Robert Lugo, and Eric Espinoza got together one night and filmed random parts of Glassell Park. Joseph had been wanting to document the area because he noticed how rapidly it was changing.
The film looks to explore the complex emotions that come with living in a gentrified area. Trading low rent and community for a safer neighborhood and rising prices.
Glassellland doesn’t look to offer any answers it merely attempts to explore the question further through Joseph’s perspective as he narrates his personal experience growing up in the area.
