A NELA Zine
Glassellland Lit Mag wants to showcase voices in the NELA area. We want to highlight all things good and bad in Glassell Park and use this zine as a sort of time capsule. The neighborhood has changed so much over the years. Ten years from now, we would love to look back at this project full of photographs, drawings, and writings and be transported back to what it was like in Glassell Park in 2025.
For clarification, you do not have to be from or currently live in Glassell Park to submit. And your piece doesn’t have to be on or about Glassell Park (although that is preferred). Our only real request is for people submitting to have at least spent one afternoon in the area. Based on your experience, good or bad, short or long, we are asking submitters to please share what they thought or think of Glassell Park in the body of their email or cover letter.
With this project, we hope to uplift voices in the area. If we can get pieces about or regarding Glassell Park, even better. But even if the piece has nothing to do with Glassell Park, as long as it’s written or created by someone who has an impression of the area, we will consider it.
We hope that this zine is used an opportunity for people all across Northeast LA to get their work published and in front of new eyes!

REQUIREMENTS:
- You must have spent at least one minute in Glassell Park to submit – or long enough to have an impression of the neighborhood. That can be anyone who has lived, currently lives, worked, or currently works in Glassell Park. But that also includes people who may have just spent an afternoon, day, or weekend here.
- In the body of your email (or as a cover letter) let us know a little bit about your experience/affiliation with Glassell Park. What are/were your impressions?
- Did you drift in or were you born and raised here? Did you live here for a week back in 1987? Do you work here, part time? Did you have a job here back in the 2017? Maybe you passed through 90065 ten years ago. Maybe you’ve always wanted to visit. Maybe a family member of yours lives in Glassell Park. Whatever your relationship is with Glassell Park (even if you just visited for an afternoon and hated it) please let us know! It will inform the issue.
Your piece does not have to be in or about Glassell Park to be considered (although pieces about Glassell Park are more than welcome)!
Submit to: GLADLYINSANELIT@GMAIL.COM
Note: we do not stand to profit from this lit mag and will hold zero rights to your work beyond this one-time publication. Basically, you can still submit these pieces to other places afterward! We don’t own any of it.
This is a one-time event. There are currently no plans for a second issue.
Submissions for this issue will close at 11:59 pm, August SEPTEMBER 30th, 2025 (updated/extended deadline). Don’t wait until the last second when we are swamped and grumpy at the 200 pieces we have to read. Submit as soon as you can!
Remember, we want to showcase you! We don’t stand to profit from this. Please share with anyone you think may be interested in submitting.
