Kite Thief
a tree in glassellland
Somewhere in Glassell Park stands the tallest tree in all of Glassellland — towering over everything else in the park, home to flocks of wild California parrots, and (allegedly) once mistaken for a Darth Maul kite by a very confused kid who grew up to write this.
Kite Thief is a short illustrated zine about that tree: what it’s seen, who’s loved and hated it, and why it feels bigger the closer you get. Part of Hyper Local Dispatch’s Reading the Trees series.
